Glucosamine in the Dock?

Posted: September 17, 2010 By: admin

As news came out today that glucosamine ( a nutrient used to help rebuild damaged or worn cartilage) does not after all reduce pain, then a small word of warning before you chuck it in the bin. There has been over a number of years now many research papers linking glucosamine to helping joints rebuild from wear and tear and degenerative diseases. As is often the case you need to look at what timescale the research was over and the numbers of people studied. Furthermore, it is vital that the correct dose of the nutrient is used or there will be little or no effect. Originally, glucosamine was not used as a pain killer but simply as an aid to restore some joint cartilage which may then lead to reduced pain at that joint. But, the research up until now has been so strong that the medical profession has been advising certain people such as arthritis sufferers to take it. I have also found along with numerous clients that there are benefits to taking this supplement as long as the dose is correct and it is taken for long enough. So lets see where this story leads- as I was once taught; before scientific studies become fact they must first be duplicated and replicated.
