Calpol and asthma risk
While I have been a little quiet recently on the blog posts I have been collecting information to put onto the site- especially with all the snow. Look out over the next few days for new blogs and those special offers as we head in to the Xmas and New Year period. Firstly, some new research is linking babies given calpol and other forms of paracetamol to a doubling in their risk of developing asthma. Those fed these medicines in the first 15 months of their life are also at much higher risk of suffering from allergies. It is well known that since the 1950s childhood asthma has increased three fold- we also know that not breast feeding children for the required six months and introducing dairy too early can also increase allergy risk in later life. The research does point out that there is not yet a definite link between paracetamol and asthma and of course, the risk of giving it to children may outweigh the potential risks. However, perhaps a warning sign that giving drugs too early may cause problems in later life- remember any drug/medication will carry risks as all are potential toxic at any age.
Also, this week our favourite dish of all time is apparently steak and chips- well you can’t go wrong with chunky chips done in duck fat! Enjoy……
