The Ever expanding UK.

No surprise but the latest figures out say that 1 in 10 adults are now so obese that their GP considers their weight to be a serious risk to their health. More than 5.5 million over 16s are officially on the obesity register kept by GPs which is up by a quarter of a million in the past year alone. This is probably an underestimation to as many people would not have visited their GP recently. This increase in obesity is also fuelling a soaring increase in type 2 diabetes which is largely prevented by lifestyle factors (like many chronic diseases). Diabetes now accounts for 50% of all heart disease. Being overweight increases the risk not just for diabetes and heart disease but also strokes, cancers, arthritis and many more modern epidemics. Taking regular exercise, watching your weight and eating a diet rich in fruit and vegetables is a message we have all heard before but do you need a little more motivation to help you? Get in touch and do something about it before it is too late! Obesity is not genetic and is not caused by a lack of drugs or surgery- Why not join the debate on the blog.
