Fish Oils and bingo wings
More good news about the omega 3 fats found in oily fish and also in crab, oysters and mussels. Research from the Wilmer eye Institute at the John Hopkins School of Medicine has found people who eat two or more portions of omega fats a week were much less likely to suffer from age- related macular degeneration. AMD is a major cause of visual impairment in the UK affecting a third of people over the age of 75 or around 240,000 people. It is thought that the good oils may help to protect the retina. This adds to the already substantial research that good fats are a vital part of our diet as we already know the fats help lower blood pressure, as well as lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease and some cancers. These fats also boost energy/metabolism. Too much red meat has been linked with an increase in AMD so replacing some red meat with oily fish such as salmon, trout or mackerel is an easy way to improve your health. Remember, especially if you don’t like fish to eat plenty of good quality, organic oils and nuts and seeds.
Also, this week a survey reveals that 3/4 of British women dislike their bingo wings or the part of the arm covered by the triceps muscle. Although, you can not spot reduce fat by specific exercises you can, of course, tone the muscles in that area. Press-ups and dips off a Swiss ball can be great for this but do ask me before attempting or if you would like more exercises.
