Multi-tasking

Much research over the last few years has left me in no doubt that human beings are not designed to multi-task. Doing too much at once reduces performance as we make more mistakes and actually the tasks take us longer as we constantly switch from one to another. So how about when we are learning and taking exams? It has been said that children get use to and adapt to the fast technology but a study this work has shown this is not true. A study from the Netherlands has found that test scores from children who used Facebook whilst revising or indeed just had it on in the background were 20% lower! Brain’s are meant to focus and do one task at a time- we didn’t evolve with all the technology.
