Yo Yo dieting a killer

Its been known for a long time that repeated dieting can cause health problems and usually leads to the dieter gaining more weight in the end. Rapid weight loss puts the body in to a starvation mode and lowers your metabolism. Indeed, according to Toronto’s York University actually being overweight and obese is healthier than keep going on diets. The study of 6000 obese men and women over 16 years actually found that 1 in 3 people were in fact perfectly healthy or only had slight health problems and would do better to focus on not gaining any extra weight and doing some exercise and eating well. Exercise lowers your risk of many health conditions even if you are over weight. It seems that a stressed out, sedentary person even if they are at normal weight could be a greater risk of things such as heart disease.

Perhaps this is a good time to remind you that not only are crash diets dangerous but many so called healthy or low fat options are in fact very processed and a poor choice. This week it was revealed that many supermarket light options have as many calories as the ordinary food…….and probably more chemicals.

Lose weight slowly, move often and eat well.
